Canadian universities are a favourite choice for international students for many reasons. Apart from the obvious ease of immigration through that path, some Canadian universities also offer a variety of intakes for more flexibility.

The three intakes are summer, fall and winter. These are based on the time of the year that students resume. The summer intake starts around May, the fall intake starts in September and the winter intake starts in January.

The winter intake presents a great opportunity to students who missed the summer or fall intakes for one reason or the other. Here are a few Canadian universities who offer admissions for the winter intake:

  • Ryerson University
  • Cape Breton University
  • Carleton University
  • Fanshawe College
  • Centennial College
  • Mount Saint Vincent University
  • Royal Roads University
  • Ivey Business School, University of Western Ontario
  • Douglas College
  • Schulich School of Business, York University
  • Lambton College
  • John Molson School of Business, Concordia University

The application period for the winter intake is usually shorter than the other intakes so it’s advisable to start the process early. Schools can also choose not to have a winter intake for a specific year if they’ve filled up all the open admission spots.
