Nigeria has become one of the major sources of immigrants to Canada, and that is unlikely to change any time soon. One of the major questions prospective immigrants ask is how much it will cost to relocate to Canada from Nigeria with Express Entry. 

Express Entry is one of the most popular ways to immigrate to Canada. It creates a pathway for skilled workers to become permanent residents of Canada and contribute to its economy. It is ideal for people with university degrees and a decent amount of work experience.

The immigation process is a fairly long one so it’s better to plan ahead. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of possible expenses to show how much it will cost to relocate to Canada from Nigeria with Express Entry.

Transcript Request Fee

You’ll need to get your transcript to submit to the  Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) provider of your choice. Your school will be required to mail the document directly to the ECA provider. Transcripts fees vary according to institutions, but they range from ₦10,000 to ₦50,000.

Educational Credential Assessment

The most commonly used ECA provider is WES and they charge 200 CAD to evaluate your educational qualifications. 200 CAD is about ₦70,000. Please note that foreign exchange rates change constantly.

IELTS General Training

This is the language proficiency test you’ll take to show that you can write, read, speak and understand English. It used to cost ₦75,000, but was increased to 79,000 on May 1, 2021.

Police Character Certificate

This will be paid to the Nigerian Police Force. This certificate is important to assure the Canadian government that you don’t have a criminal record and will not be a security risk. It costs between ₦5,000 to ₦10,000.

Medical Examination

This fee will be paid to one of the hospitals designated by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).  The cost is about ₦40,000 for adults. 

Application Processing Fee

This will be paid to IRCC. It costs 825 CAD which is about ₦290,000

Right of Permanent Residence Fee

Also payable to IRCC. It costs $500 CAD which is about ₦175,000

Biometrics

This will be paid at your visa application centre. It costs $85 which is about ₦30,000

Flight for one person

A one-way ticket to Toronto costs an average of ₦350,000.
